ICT integration for October Month

ICT integration for October Month

AS I was wondering how to make my children to use ICT, today I got substitution class in VA that too it was IT period. The idea came to my mind that it would be the best time for me to write this reflection. So I took my children to the IT lab.I asked them what they want to do, to my surprise they told me that they want to browse and some wants to play game, some wants to make some pictures. So I agreed with them and I told them to put on the monitor. To my surprise I saw some children facing problem to log in, I helped them.

I gave them the freedom to play according to their interest as my main intention was to make them gain control over mouse and to gain confident. As I went around I saw some children facing difficulty, so I made their peer to help them. I found out that peer helping really works as they feel free to ask their friends. I found out that some children are far more advanced when it comes to use of ICT.

After that I made some weaker children to sit in pair to play so that their friend can help them. Though I didn’t have the plan as it was substitution class yet I was satisfied with what I did as children did something which adds extra knowledge in their ICT use. Children were fully engaged in carrying out the activity.
So my dear friends if we get substitution and if we don’t have lesson plan we can always make best use of the available ICT.

  5. Through your pictures I came to know that your school has ICT facilities with enough desktop. Hope everyone is using it meaningfully with productive lesson. You too used ICT during your substitution period to engage your children. It's good give chance to our children because most of them are NOT used to with control of mouse. To get the control of mouse if you would ask them to paint or draw pictures rather than finding from net.

  12. It was good idea to use ICT lab to engage our children when we get ad-hoc substitutions like what you did, however it can be applicable only in the school where there is IT lab. In small and located innthe remote area dont have such facilities and it will be difficult to apply. You did great job but I would suggest you to start all the children with basic usage such as switching on...open file...shut down etc rather than allowing them to use freely.

  14. Great idea madam. Meaningful use of substitution period. We can teach them how to find eduational related information without distrubing our own period. Later it will be easier for us as students will be doing ict related activities by themselves.Keep using it and keep sharing your best practices

You really did a great job but I would suggest you to start all the children with basic usage such as switching on...open file...shut down etc rather than allowing them to use freely provided you get such opportunity in future madam.
