I taught names of
vegetables to class one children on 16th September, in this lesson I
used ICT to show the students the pictures of vegetables. Before the lesson I
browsed internet, selected best examples and saved in my smart phone. I showed
the pictures of vegetables saved in my phone and explained to them as very
limited examples were provided in their work book. Children could directly
differentiate by looking at the pictures; it benefited a lot as they got clear
information.

Pictures downloaded from my smart phone for children to see.
I showed pictures from my phone to each group which I took little time to show to all the groups but on the other hand it saved my time as I don’t have to draw the pictures. Our children enjoy looking at real pictures than our drawings. More over our smart phone is very handy we can use anywhere at any time. Whenever we are in doubt we can always use our smart phone. Our children get an opportunity to see what they haven’t seen before
Then
I made them to do the activity on page no 28, I was quite surprised to see
my children could do the activity without my guidance as they got clear information.
So our children learn better through visual than just verbal. We can always
make best use of our smart phone when our projector is not in working
condition.
But I could not make my
class children to use their own smart phone in the class as our school policy
does not allow the use of smart phone in the school. As a home work I provided
the link in the class we chat and
asked their parents to help their children to look for more examples of
vegetables at home.

Phone us handy held device. It can serve the purpose to the degree that intended message of the lesson can be conveyed effectively.
ReplyDeleteMadam, it would been interesting if you could have shown the image in through LCD projector if available.
Wonderful lesson la. Yes I agree with you madam. School policy withheld children using mobiles in the school. I feel policy has to be revise so that children can use the mobile in the classroom for certain extend. If it is of good purpose I think the head of the school will accept la. Only think is we have to explain our proposal la. In my case I let my students use mobiles very often la.
ReplyDeleteMobile phone has become one of the teaching materials now a days. The lesson works well if with lesser numbers of students in the class or in a group. It would have been better if madam could have used projector but that gadget also depends upon the school. Collection of mobiles for each group is a problem to self and others. That's just my thoughts la. Keep using it if you find it achievable.
ReplyDeleteIn this 21st century most of our daily lesson need to have some ICT tools which can develop the curiosity of our learners so that they will enjoy and learn better. You used your phone as a learning materials to your children. We can use our phone whenever needed. Good used of phone, keep on going.
ReplyDeleteYes mam,I do agree with you that phone is handy and we can use every where at any time. You had wonderful lesson useing phone and also encouraged partents too.Great idea la.
ReplyDeleteIt is good to hear that your children really enjoyed the lesson on the topic vegetables and the pictures you have shown to them from the internet downloaded.Integration of ICT in lesson is must for the 21st century learners. Please, keep on exploring more ideas in future too.
ReplyDeleteYou have used the simple tools very effectively and made your instance very clear to your children. Not allowing children to use smartphones in the school was a good ideas as there are equally significant drawbacks too. In case if we allow our children to use smartphones in the classroom like in foreign countries our children's attention may get diverted and focus of teaching will be not that worth. However if we use the ICT in desired manners like you have used it will greatly benefit our learners. Good work though simple.
ReplyDeleteIt seems your lesson has made the students keen attraction by looking at the aids you have shown. You used simple and effective tool.
ReplyDeleteNice pictures mam, however, if you could have shown these pictures using projector, it would save lots of time. Children could directly differentiate by looking at the pictures and they even enjoy it rather than seeing our clumsy handwritten drawing which the children even recognize the images.overall good lesson mam.
ReplyDeleteSorry I mean to say which the children even could not recognize.
DeleteI have never missed to read your lovely sharing. I know your children must have learned better because you have down loaded the picture and showed it to your students. I am sure children must have learnt better.
ReplyDeleteWonderful lesson la. I am sure your children must have learnt better. You had simple and effective tool. Good work.
ReplyDeleteTeaching of vegetable in ICT is the best decision you took la mam.
ReplyDeleteBecause there are some vegetables which children would not have seen in the areas and are not found.
